Founded in 1928, Bryanston School aims above all to develop the all-round talents of individual pupils. A broad, flexible academic and extra-curricular programme is offered and each pupil receives considerable one-to-one help and guidance from a personal tutor, subject teachers and housemaster/housemistress. There is no especial academic bias towards Arts or Sciences and a wide range of subjects is offered. Entry to Bryanston is via scholarship, Common Entrance or the school's special papers. Academic results at both GCSE and A Level are excellent, with pass rates of more than 95% and a similar percentage of pupils continuing to further education.
Set in a beautiful 400-acre site, the school has outstanding facilities. Extensive and immediately accessible playing fields, a sports complex with gymnasium, fitness suite, swimming pool and squash courts, stables and riding arena and the River Stour provide for almost every sporting activity. Approximately 600 individual music lessons a week are taught in the Music School and there is a senior orchestra, string chamber orchestra, junior wind band, concert band, six choirs, choral society, brass trio, wind, string and vocal ensembles, many different chamber groups, jazz bands and rock bands. Art, Science and Technology are accommodated in purpose-built centres, and the school's magnificent theatre is an outstanding venue for pupil and professional productions.
Bryanston offers a particularly friendly, supportive and productive atmosphere in which individual talents are realised and pupils develop a strong sense of responsibility for themselves and others. The school seeks to foster creativity, individuality and variety and, perhaps more importantly, to provide a loving community within which these qualities may develop. Happy children growing up in secure surroundings and confident of their own worth will become well-balanced eighteen year olds. They are what Bryanston aims to produce.
