The school is a co-educational day school (registered charity) which prepares boys for Common Entrance and Scholarship entry to independent secondary schools at 13, and girls for entrance and Scholarship to independent secondary schools at 11. The class size is maximum 18 and children are admitted in September following their fourth birthday. The staff are all graduates. From age 8 pupils are taught by subject specialists, ensuring they reach very high standards in all areas. There is a very strong tradition of personal attention to the needs and development of each child. The size of the school and building help to make it a happy, friendly community. There is a strong Christian tradition in the school. The school enjoys a full range of sporting activities for both boys and girls, with matches for boys in football, rugby, cricket whilst the girls concentrate on netball and rounders. Other sports include tennis, cross country running and swimming. The school has purpose-built superb pre-prep buildings, sports hall, dining room, kitchen and changing rooms, and have continued to develop facilities in a number of areas, including ICT, Art and Design and Music.
Adventure outdoor training holidays and French trips are very popular. French is taught from 4 years of age with lively and well structured courses, and Latin from 9 years old.
Our music department offers tuition in brass, woodwind, strings, guitar, piano, recorder and singing. Pupils are prepared for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Examinations. Our annual productions and concerts which feature every pupil in the school are a highlight of the school year.
Our many club activities include Breakfast Club, drama, music club, computing, Science, table tennis, chess, Scripture Union, choir, junior fencing, Mind Lab and a Saturday morning football club
There is a strong Parents' Association which organises a range of enjoyable fund-raising events. Most pupils leave to local independent day schools such as Lady Eleanor Holles, Hampton, Sir William Perkins's, Kingston Grammar, St Paul's, Surbiton High, Reeds, St George's with a few going to boarding schools or selective state schools.
