A Word from the Head

THOMAS’S LONDON DAY SCHOOLS are a group of six independent co-educational day schools, based in central London, educating over 1600 children, aged 2.5 to 13 years.

Thomas’s Kindergarten, Pimlico was founded in 1971 by Mrs David Thomas and today forms an important part of the group of schools that sprang from it. Thomas’s Kindergarten, Battersea, followed in 1991. The kindergartens are Montessori based and prepare children for an active and fulfilling role in their next schools.

Thomas’s Kensington, Thomas’s Battersea and Thomas’s Clapham were founded in 1981, 1990 and 1993 respectively. In September 2002, the former Lady Eden’s School became Thomas’s Kensington, Lower School.

In September 2005, Thomas, Fulham a preparatory school for children from 4-11 years, opened its doors for the first time. The school buildings are located directly opposite South Park. The school is anticipated to grow from Reception upwards to a capacity of 400 pupils by 2012.

Thomas’s have a simple and successful philosophy, which is the education of children, based on happiness and self esteem. Staff are energetic and highly professional and ensure that all children discover their talents in all possible areas. Education is based on sound traditional principles, with academics, cultural activities and sport being the essential ingredients. This is underpinned by a broad Christian teaching, leadership, manners and caring for one another. Thomas’s places considerable emphasis on involvement by parents in their children’s progress. There is a long established PTA.

Thomas’s Foundation, which is a charity to endow scholarships to the schools, was formed in 1999.
