Cheltenham College is one of the country’s leading co-educational independent schools for both day and boarding pupils aged 3 – 18. Offering outstanding all round education within a warm and vibrant community, the school is situated in 72 acres of beautiful grounds in the heart of the Cotswolds. The Prep School (3 – 13) occupies a stunning 15 acre woodland setting, including its own sports fields and lake, adjacent to the Senior School. Road and rail connections are excellent, with Birmingham and Bristol airports less than an hour away and London no more than two.
Cheltenham College is renowned for the richness and diversity of education it offers pupils. From the age of 3 up to 18, pupils are embraced into the community and encouraged to play an active role in College life. The school is nationally reputed for the strength of its numerous sports teams, with top-level sports professionals and coaches complementing unrivalled sporting facilities. Music also plays a vital part in school life, with pupils able to learn just about every orchestral instrument imaginable as well as numerous choirs, bands and ensembles. The arts equally flourish; both schools stage several plays a year and pupils are encouraged to exhibit their art and design work in Thirlestaine House, the College’s very own 19th century mansion and gallery.
Renowned for its focus on all round education, one of the Senior School’s greatest strengths is the loyalty, respect and integrity that it inspires in its pupils. Founded upon Christian principles, with a strong House system at its heart, Cheltenham College offers a tremendous amount to parents who want their children to develop not only as learners but as independent, confident and responsible young people. The inclusive community of the College encourages both social and academic integration; boys and girls play an active role in College life and thrive within it.
All pupils are stretched academically and encouraged to achieve their best. The iGCSE is offered in Maths, English Literature, Science, History and Geography and over 95% of school leavers go on to the university of their choice. A huge array of extra and co-curricular clubs and societies are on offer throughout the week and at weekends, from outdoor pursuits and expeditions to the Himalayas to community service and Humanitarian Aid projects. The school also runs a successful Combined Cadet Force and operates the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme at Bronze and Gold level.
