Founded in 1968 Bladon House School specialises in speech and language disorders, moderate to severe learning difficulties. Our students present with difficulties in speech, autism, language and communication, and often display associated behavioural difficulties; 80% of our population in on the autistic spectrum. The school can accommodate 110 residential pupils and 20 day pupils. Pupils enter the main school from 5 to 16 years, and may embark on continuing education from 16 to 19 years in off site facilities.

The school is situated close to Burton on Trent, and 30 minutes from East Midlands Airport, with good access via motorway and rail links to all parts of the country.

A large number of our students require enhanced support and individual programmes. We offer a multi-disciplinary team of specialist trained teachers, residential staff, therapists and medical staff. A key strength of the school is the collaborative working of this team, providing a holistic approach, with the emphasis being on encouraging independence.

Bladon House aims to provide a stimulating environment with the highest levels of expectation and demand so that pupils are able to make significant progress across a range of educational, social, physical and communication skills in order to equip them better for future life.

Residential pupils under the age of 16 live within 10 houses on the main school site, with between 8 to 12 children in each house. This provides from small group living, each house providing a lounge, kitchen, together with bedrooms and bathrooms. Great emphasis is placed on utilising the schools own extensive grounds, as well as making use of facilities available in the wider community.

We offer an independent assessment programming and training service (APT). Our team of specialists can help with hard to place children and young people and to promote and support inclusion.
