Why Moffats?
For over 70 years we have run this school as an extension of our own family, with the warmth and affection which all children need, in a lovely Georgian house with 100 acres of our own land around us. South Shropshire is still peaceful, wooded, farming country and offers an ideal environment for boys and girls between 4 and 13 to develop skills and interests which will last them all their lives.
We have kept Moffats as a small school, believing that this is the only way to a deep and sympathetic understanding of each child as an individual, enabling us to help them find their strengths and, at the same time, overcome their weaknesses.
Our standards are high. If children show potential in any field - academic, artistic or athletic - we can help them to reach the highest achievements attainable at their level. But we can also provide supportive and expert help for many pupils with learning difficulties.
One of our major concerns is the physical well-being of the children. They lead an active and healthy life and their many successes in competitive sport reflect their all round fitness. Every aspect of their health is carefully monitored by regular medical checks and, in close liaison with parents, we work to ensure that our care is second to none.
Riding is one of our many activities. We have a number of our own ponies and can accept those belonging to pupils. We run, and compete in, equestrian events of all kinds.
Our Headmaster, Mr Mark Daborn, will send a prospectus to parents who would like to know more about the school and will welcome visitors at any time during the term. All days at Moffats are open: we like people to see us as we are, to meet our staff and to talk with our pupils. It is our children who will answer the question - why Moffats?
