Primarily a boarding school, we offer full and weekly boarding and are flexible to accommodate the exact needs of each girl and her family. We also welcome day girls, for whom we provide a convenient local transport service. All day girls may stay one night a week free of charge and for additional nights for a small extra cost. All the Houses are for both boarders and day girls. This approach ensures all mix well together.
Our excellent teaching staff and our personal tutor system ensure that every pupil fulfils her academic potential without suffering from undue stress. First-class pastoral care creates a happy, caring atmosphere in which the girls thrive socially too.
Girls typically take 9 or 10 GCSEs and 3 or 4 full A Levels, and virtually all proceed to degree courses at good universities. There are also plenty of opportunities for extra-curricular achievement, ranging from the Duke of Edinburgh Award to the Leith's Certificate in Food and Wine.
Preparing girls for their future career is of great importance to us. We are an accredited 'Investor in Careers', demonstrating that our careers advice is of the highest calibre. We are actively involved in the Young Enterprise programme, and our Young Enterprise company was this year voted the best in Gloucestershire.
Westonbirt School's relatively small size means that every girl has ample opportunities to play in teams, star in school plays, and generally make her mark as an individual. Many girls study musical instruments to a high level of proficiency and take part in regular concerts and recitals. Our sports teams are highly accomplished - we have one of the top schools' lacrosse teams in the country - and our speech and drama department regularly wins prestigious awards.
Initial enquiries should be directed to Mrs Belinda Holley, our Registrar, who will be pleased to provide whatever help you require.
