Choosing the right school for your children is possibly one of the most difficult and most important decisions you will ever make. At Oakhill we realise everyone is different and look towards nurturing the individual. We encourage our pupils to learn and to put that knowledge into practice. We offer a combination of individually challenging academic programmes, and enhance these with various self-development programmes and activities. Our young people are armed with all the necessary skills required to achieve their own individual potential throughout their adult lives.
Our nursery provision holds accreditation from the Pre-School Learning Alliance, with whom we work closely to continuously improve and develop our child-care strategies. At such a crucial stage of development it is important to have the best possible relationship with the parents of the children in our care. Every child has a Key Worker who is responsible for communicating with the parent on a daily basis. One of the advantages of Nursery being part of Oakhill, is that it is included in some of the main school activities helping towards an easy transition into the Preparatory School.
Our newly constructed purpose built Preparatory school opened in September 2003 and has room for 140 children in large, bright, airy classrooms where the enthusiasm is palpable. With small class sizes a priority at Oakhill College there is no chance to take a back seat or coast along. The children are challenged constantly on an individual basis. Strengths are celebrated and built upon, weaknesses are met head on and no stone is left unturned in seeking to overcome difficulties. Our classrooms are packed with learning resources aimed at stimulating and engaging our children in the learning process from Reception through to Year 6 and preparing them for life in our senior school.
At Oakhill College Senior School teaching combines the traditional with the progressive. Information Technology, Physical Education, Music and Drama departments are rapidly developing their facilities to enhance the learning and enjoyment of our pupils. The small study groups and high staff pupil ratios ensure students reach far beyond their estimated potential. Qualities of Leadership and responsibility are developed through the form and house systems, and the rigours of academic study are balanced by opportunities for music, art, drama and sports.
