The Junior School, picturesquely set in 40 acres on the southern outskirts in Cheltenham, is a Catholic school where children of all denominations are welcome. The School is co-educational with day pupils aged 1 to 11 years forming part of the St Edward's School, offering education to 18 years. Kindergarten is open all year except for public holidays.
The School prides itself on its friendly, open, yet structured and disciplined approach where children are nurtured, in small classes, by a dedicated caring staff. With the Christian environment the School Staff provide a loving and caring atmosphere that enables each child to develop to their full potential. Catholic children are aided by the Eucharistic programme when preparing for the Sacraments.
Facilities include a large Sports Hall, Chapel, Hall, Science Laboratory, new large Library, well-equipped Workshop, Art and Home Studies Room, together with several Music rooms. A wide range of sports is offered using our extensive playing fields; swimming is timetabled from Year 1 in the Senior School's indoor heated pool.
The Junior Department offers Design and Technology, Home Studies and Latin at age 10. Art and Music are also strongly emphasised.
The Infant Department timetable ensures that each child partakes in a wide range of activities including Music, Drama, Infant Science and Physical Education. As the children progress through the school this encompasses Swimming, Football and Cricket. Teddies Club is an 'after school' supervisory facility of caring for children, from Reception onwards, until 5.30pm, for parents whose own professional commitments make a 3.40pm pick up difficult. The Junior Library offers extended stay from 5.30pm to 6.00pm for which there is a minimal charge.
In the Kindergarten and Infant Departments, emphasis is placed on the acquisition of literacy and numeracy skills and an early introduction to communicative French starts in Kindergarten and continues up through all years.
Before school breakfast club starts at 7.30am and supervision "Early birds" runs from 8.00am until 8.30am. The normal school day is supplemented by a full range of optional clubs and activities after school in which students are encouraged to participate. The Library is open until 6.00pm for homework supervision. There is no charge for Before of After School Supervision, and only a minimal charge for the breakfast club and extended stay in the Library from 5.30-6.00pm.
Written reports are provided annually and individual interviews with parents are given twice yearly. We have an Open Day in the Spring and Autumn terms.
The school is served by coaches to transport pupils from outlying areas.
