Situated conveniently close to the town of Altrincham, North Cestrian Grammar School offers a safe and caring environment in which pupils thrive. As befits a small school of three hundred pupils, attention to the individual is a reality, not an empty phrase. Over the years the School has proved in its ability not only to cater for able pupils but also to nurture those whose academic potential lay unrecognised or undeveloped. The School has long catered for boys aged 11-18 and girls in a co-educational Sixth Form but from September 2008 girls will be admitted lower down the School as North Cestrian becomes fully co-educational.

Under the guidance of a dedicated team of teachers, each pupil is encouraged to make the most of his or her talents. The School has a proven record of academic success at GCSE and a strong Six Form offering a wide range of 'A' Levels taught in small sets. There is a comprehensive programme of careers and Higher Education advice and a strong tradition of entry to university.

The School is housed in a fine Victorian mansion with recent building providing excellent teaching accommodation including five laboratories, Suites for Music Technology, Computers and Design Technology and a Language Laboratory. The Art Centre has special provision for photography and ceramics, and there are specialist suites for most departments, in addition to a well-equipped Sports Hall and 20 acre Sports Ground. There is a new Library and a recently completed School Hall.

North Cestrian provides a wide range of extra-curricular activities which enable each pupil to excel in some area, thus building his confidence and self-esteem. National and county honours have been gained in hockey, athletics, swimming and football. Holidays both at home and abroad, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, public speaking, chess, music, drama and an extensive charity programme are a reflection of the care taken at North Cestrian to oversee the development of the whole pupil in a friendly, family, atmosphere.

There are a limited number of bursaries and competitive scholarships on offer each year.

Visits are always welcome and the Headmaster is pleased to show prospective parents around the School during the normal working day. Please contact the School Office to make an appointment.
