True ‘education’ must be exciting. It is all the better if it’s also challenging, caring and individually focused. We strive for the academic achievement of each individual to go hand-in-hand with spiritual growth, friendship, confidence, respect and a sheer love of life.
Set in beautiful rural surroundings, yet close to Bath and Bristol, All Hallows pioneered Catholic boarding co-education for preparatory school age children. Christian principles are integrated into daily life so that all denominations are warmly welcomed into the ecumenical life of this Roman Catholic foundation. Professionally qualified, energetic and family-orientated staff, many of whom reside in the school, provide for the academic and pastoral welfare of the children.
Distinctive opportunities, at no extra cost, exist for both the academically gifted and those with learning difficulties through the Learning Support Centre and/or specialist teachers. The school has a happy and deliberate mix of boarders and day pupils. Attractive flexibility exists between boarding and day arrangements. There is a purposeful and exciting activities programme for all children each evening after school, with weekend highlights.
The school enjoys regional and national sporting success in rugby, hockey, tennis and athletics, as well as regular competitive fixtures for children of all abilities against local opposition in the traditional team sports. Excellence within a framework of sport for all is our aim. Riding, golf and fencing are activities that are becoming increasingly popular. A unique tennis coaching programme, in association with the LTA, provides the basis for our Tennis Academy. This entity involves over 130 of our children from beginners to those at an elite level of performance.
Music and the Arts thrive, ranging from the grace of the chapel choir to the creativity and performance of dance and drama. Exceptional facilities allow the children and staff to discover talent and develop potential. These include astroturf, floodlit tennis courts, sports hall, covered swimming pool, cycle track, Chapel, art studio, brand new classroom block, networked information technology centre and two impressive science laboratories. We are able to offer a specific environmental education and Forest School, utilising the school’s special outdoor teaching area in private wood.
All Hallows’ independent status from any one particular senior school, plus adherence to the Common Entrance and prep schools’ scholarship syllabus, enables parents, together with the Headmaster, to select the most appropriate senior school to suit a particular child’s needs and talents. In the last few years we have sent pupils to over forty different schools. 2007 witnessed 40 % of the leaving cohort winning a scholarship to the school of their choice. We offer a range of scholarships and bursaries.
