Brymore provides a unique experience for boys motivated by strong interests in the practical aspects of running a farm, gardens and engineering workshops. A general secondary curriculum is delivered THROUGH the boys' interests but not necessarily FOR careers in these areas. No other school in the country can boast of a dairy herd, beef cattle, sheep, pigs, an acre of walled garden, 100 square metres of glass-house and a workshop complex incorporating a foundry, forges and a control technology/CAD room!
Students are actively involved in running the school farm and gardens, taking responsibility for animals, equipment, machinery, themselves and each other. Students' work must match up to adult standards and the various ventures have to be commercially viable.
Brymore is truly a national resource, taking students from the length and breadth of the country without regard to class, creed, colour or academic ability.
The selection process is somewhat unusual in that students must demonstrate their commitment, enthusiasm and above all aptitude for the specialised curriculum on offer.
As a boarding school, Brymore is able to offer a wide range of activities and sports achieving considerable success in competition with other schools.
Achievement at Brymore occurs in a very broad context. Examination success is important but students benefit in many other ways, typified by the 3Rs of the Brymore 'creed' - RESILIENCE, RESPONSIBILITY and RESOURCEFULNESS.
