Moreton Hall has completed an ambitious development programme, including two new Sixth Form boarding houses with en-suite facilities, an all-weather hockey surface and complete refurbishment of existing boarding houses. A recent development in ICT provides user access from all boarding houses and classrooms. This facility complements the high standard of teaching reinforcing the school’s excellent level of academic achievement.
On the leisure front the new all-weather surface, the large and well-equipped Sports centre, floodlit tennis courts, heated indoor swimming pool and nine-hole golf course provide ample opportunities for sporting excellence. A number of girls currently represent England and Wales at lacrosse. Over 20 sports are on offer, including lacrosse, hockey, netball, cricket, tennis, athletics, while riding and sailing are also popular.
Music and drama flourish too, including joint productions with boys from nearby Shrewsbury School. A professionally equipped recording studio and school radio station have recently opened. The school has an extensive library and student run bookshop.
Further real practical experience is to be found in Moreton Enterprises, our unique business scheme managed by the Sixth Form and monitored by professional advisers, which runs our branch of the Barclays Bank and a variety of shops. All students have the opportunity to take part in the Young Enterprise scheme.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme is a very popular optional which helps to fulfil Moreton's aim to encourage each individual to work well with other people. Outlines, the Community Service programme, also promotes the belief in working for others. All such options are part of a full programme of daily and weekend activities for boarders and day students.
All boarding houses have recently undergone a transformation providing excellent married accommodation for staff as well as refurbished bedrooms and public areas for students. The outstanding Sixth Form facilities provide conference areas, sitting rooms, kitchens and provide an exceptional preparation for university life. First Step Nursery takes 1+ year olds and then Moreton’s junior department, Moreton First, takes girls and boys from the age of 4. Boarders, flexi boarders and day pupils are equally welcome. Indeed, many students take the opportunity of occasional boarding.
Alumni - The school's Old Girls' Association is co-ordinated at school by Katy Tanner and Caroline Sanger-Davies. Well-known old girls include the composer Thea Musgrave, broadcasters Shahnaz Pakravan and Lucy Pilkington, artists Laura Stoddart and Rebekah Gilbertson and recently appointed Judge Linda Dobbs.
