Packwood Haugh, beautifully situated in 65 acres of Shropshire countryside, is a leading coeducational day and boarding preparatory school for 287 four to thirteen year old pupils. Featuring in many major school guides, its reputation extends beyond Shropshire as it continues to prepare children confidently for the best senior schools in the country and scholarship success each year.
Within the last few years facilities have been developed comprehensively; a full size Astroturf, a purpose built music school, a multi-media computer centre, a girls' boarding house and refurbished libraries have all been completed. More recently the entire teaching complex has been completely modernised and improved with the addition of interactive whiteboards and more recreation rooms and facilities. The dining room has been refurbished and there is a delicious new menu to match. A 270 seat theatre has been built and is in regular use for assemblies, concerts, drama productions and debates. New classrooms were completed in 2005 and a new sports hall, CDT and art complex will be built in 2007.
Fulfilment of potential is at the heart of Packwood philosophy, whether in the classroom (form sizes average 14) on the games field or through the comprehensive Clubs and activities programme. New activities are introduced each term.
A thorough system of pastoral care with an emphasis on traditional Christian values helps create a friendly, active and rewarding environment for staff and children alike.
The atmosphere is positive, the children are happy and the 'Packwood spirit' is alive and well. Recent inspections by ISI and CSCI confirmed that the schools excellent reputation is well founded.
