King’s Hall in Taunton offers education with a difference. The quiet rural setting, combined with traditional values and modern facilities, make this popular school a first choice for education for ages 3 to 13. King’s Hall staff firmly believe that learning is not limited to the curriculum and the classroom, and although academic results are excellent, the school sets out to provide many extra curricular activities and hobbies for children to take part in, including choir, instrument learning, ballet, horse riding, hockey, rugby, netball and cricket. The pre-prep pupils (age 3 – 7) benefit from the use of all of King’s Hall’s marvellous facilities whilst enjoying the quiet and peaceful atmosphere of classrooms specially designed for the younger children. A Forest School, Montessori classroom and an array of extra curricular activities provide children with a well rounded and complete education at this tender age, each child provided with the opportunity to develop their own interests and passions whilst progressing academically. All children at King’s Hall are treated very much as individuals, with small classes and dedicated, experienced staff, who are equally as inspired by the world as the pupils. This fantastic start to pupils’ schooling puts them in a strong position to continue their rounded education at the senior school, King’s College, at the end of year 8.
The school is built around Pyrland Hall, a superb Georgian country house on the edge of the Quantock Hills. The 32 acre estate (including 15 acres of playing fields) is entirely surrounded by National Trust farmland but is also within a mile of Taunton, the county town of Somerset. Bristol and Exeter are within easy reach while London is a two hour train journey of three hours via the motorway.
The school has a nursery unit, two classes in each year group in the Pre-Prep and three in the Prep Department: the children are streamed from the age of 9. There is an excellent record of academic, musical, dramatic and sporting achievements. There is a programme of continual development: in the last eight years this has included a new sports hall, performing arts centre used for concerts and drama productions, new changing areas, a computer centre for the Pre-Prep and an extensive ICT centre for the Prep.
You are most welcome to come and visit us, meet the children and staff and talk about the education and care of your son or daughter in more detail. As the next step please telephone the Admissions Secretary on 01823 285921.
