Welcome from the Head:
You can be sure that your child will have the very best start to their education at the Froebelian School, where we specialise in the crucial, early years of learning and developing. Our curriculum is broad and we offer many activities and opportunities beyond the classroom. It is a formula that works. The children are happy, busy and have a thirst for learning. They achieve excellent results, particularly in the 11+ examinations to senior independent schools. Please come and see for yourself. I look forward to meeting you and to introducing the enthusiastic boys and girls currently with us.
The main aim of our dedicated staff is to help every child feel safe, happy and secure. In our family environment children blossom and are constantly encouraged to reach their full potential. We have an excellent ratio of staff to children (1:9) and we ensure that all pupils receive individual attention and support when they need it. Very close links between school and home ensure that parents are actively involved in their child’s development and progress.
The traditional values of family life – consideration, team work, sharing and good manners – are values that run throughout the school. We are, and have been since the school was founded in 1913, a fully co-educational school. We believe strongly that co-education is desirable, personally and academically for young children and contributes greatly to their rounded development.
Your child would normally join the school at age 3+. However, places are sometimes available at other ages and we welcome enquiries for any age up to 10+. All children settle quickly and are given a rich variety of learning experiences. This enables them to make early progress in literacy and numeracy. Music, art and PE are part of the balanced curriculum in the earliest years. Specialist teaching is a key feature of the Junior years (7-11) where the children are still taught and supported by class teachers, but increasingly the curriculum is led by expert staff using dedicated teaching facilities. These include a Science Laboratory, ICT and DT Suites, Art and Music Rooms. Throughout the school, learning is extended with a variety of educational visits. In the Junior years, all children are offered the opportunity to experience residential trips, typically to France and a UK based outdoor pursuit centre.
The school is accredited by the Independent Schools Council and I am a member of the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) – a guarantee of high standards and regular inspection. Our outstanding inspection report can be viewed on our website: www.froebelian.co.uk
