Curriculum: First Form - English, Mathematics, French, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Art, IT, Games and Physical Education, Music and Drama.
Second Form - as above + German and Spanish.
Third Form - as for second.
Fourth and Fifth forms (GCSE) - English and Mathematics and Science are compulsory. Up to five additional Subjects are selected in consultation with the teaching staff.
Sixth Form - The full range of Advanced level courses available. Entry requirements and procedures: Entry is by Interview and external examination results. Candidates for admission (below Sixth Form Level) take papers in English, Mathematics, Science and Verbal Reasoning. Reports are requested from the sending school.
Academic/Sports/Games and Leisure facilities available plus psychology, Business Studies, Media Studies, Theatre Studies: Six fully equipped Science laboratories. Specialist areas for History, Geography, Modern Languages, Music and Drama. Integrated Art Complex for Fine Art, History of Art, Pottery, Photography. Large Sports Hall with facilities for indoor Hockey, Netball, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Squash, Cricket, Table-tennis, Mountaineering training and fitness suite. Heated swimming pool; all weather hockey pitch. Wide ranging activities programme includes camping, canoeing. Duke of Edinburgh Scheme.
The school aims to develop the potential inherent in every girl, to encourage her to make the most of her academic, sporting and cultural ability, to stand on her own feet as a member of a happy, well-integrated community and to prepare herself to meet the demands which will be made of her, academically, vocationally and personally.
The school has excellent boarding facilities. The school has a Watersports Centre at Lake Brenig in Snowdonia and the Equestrian Centre is now open for leasing horses, lessons in riding and show jumping as well as full livery for boarders. International exchanges and holidays enhance curriculum opportunities.
