A Word from the Head

Mrs Helen Davy became Headmistress at Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls in September 2008. She was previously Headmistress at Cobham Hall in Kent.

‘Taking over the Headship of such a prestigious school is a wonderful, exciting challenge. I understood only too well what the girls joining Haberdashers’ Monmouth School for Girls felt as they arrived here for the first time, full of hope and anticipation. This is a school filled with energy and happiness; there is a sense that girls can achieve extraordinary things with the support and encouragement of the staff and fellow pupils. With a mixture of day and boarding pupils aged 7 to 18, HMSG creates a real sense of community, where we live and work together and genuinely care about each other.

HMSG nurtures a “can-do” spirit, facilitating the girls’ growing self-confidence. At all ages, your daughter will be encouraged to take responsibility, to experience teamwork and leadership, to encounter challenge and to think for themselves and to manage their time wisely. Inspired to aim high, girls achieve success in a wide variety of fields; with past pupils pursuing careers as varied as science, engineering, the media, medicine, the arts, politics and law.’
