CCSS is a unique and special place to learn. At a time when the best universities are looking for more than top grade passes, we firmly believe that the pathway to university lies not just in excellent teaching, but in close pastoral care, a broad education and personal guidance from dedicated and experienced teachers.
General
CCSS is a co-educational sixth-form college offering GCSE and A-level courses to 219 students, supported by 90 staff. The college provides close academic supervision, a friendly, informal atmosphere and high levels of pastoral care. One-to-one private tutorials are an important and unique part of all A level courses on top of group lessons. The small class sizes (averaging 5 students) allow plenty of opportunity for individual involvement and for developing each student's levels of understanding. A full and flexible GCSE curriculum is offered and at A level there are over 30 subjects to choose from, without restrictions on choice.
Admissions
CCSS does not select purely on academic merit. Our excellent examination results and value-added scores are due to top quality teaching in small classes, with additional private one-to-ones and exceptional pastoral care and support.
Examination Results
CCSS had an enviable 99.6% pass-rate in A level examinations in 2007 from a non-selective student intake. The great majority of students graduating from CCSS go on to university in the UK or elsewhere, with many enjoying success at Cambridge, Oxford, LSE and other top universities in subjects ranging from International Business to Law and Medicine.
