At Locksley Christian School we seek to provide an education that meets the need of each individual child spiritually, academically, emotionally and physically, enabling them to reach their fullest potential. In a peaceful and loving environment and on a foundation of biblical truth and character development we are:
Reaching for Excellence
Producing Integrity
Finding Wholeness
Students come from a wide geographical area and do not necessarily have an affiliation to any particular church.
We believe that all students should have access to a broad and balanced Christian curriculum. We believe equally that everybody should have the opportunity to learn at a level at which they can perform regardless of their ability.
In order to satisfy these two beliefs we offer our students broadly the same subject framework within the context of the ACE curriculum (prescribed at their level of learning) while enhancing this core curriculum with ‘expanded’ curriculum.
Learning Centres, in which the core curriculum is delivered, are organised for each key stage group of students.
Gifts and talents, of all students are harnessed and developed in preparation for competition at the European Christian Schools Convention. Events include academics as well as art, photography, drama, music and sport. At our last visit to the International Convention in the USA our students won the overall Music Award. Locally, we are well known for the excellent quality of our Christmas Production.
Due to significant success a few years ago with one young man who is on the autistic spectrum, we subsequently received a number of applications from students with special needs. These have tended to be ASD associated. As a result we have set up an additional (practical) learning centre.
The Expanded Curriculum is delivered in co-operative learning groups, which equate approximately to each key stage. Subjects vary to some degree on age but for all students include Practical Science, Oral report presentations, Physical Education, Art, Devotions, Citizenship & ICT.
In our recent survey, 100% of our parents strongly agreed or agreed that their children enjoy school. Students’ attitudes are good. There are no issues re behaviour outside of those with special needs and the other students are particularly good in supporting staff and promoting good behaviour with those who struggle in this area. Many are involved in loval community projects. Members of the local community have made very positive comment to us about our students.
