Ranby House is a caring, happy, exciting Christian community. Within it boarding and day boys and girls work and play hard, striving for excellence. The School’s motto ‘Aiming High’ touches all areas of the curriculum and the pupils, staff and parents create an atmosphere which is like no other. The School was highly praised in its last ISI Inspection for its academic and pastoral provision. In particular the report noted ‘The school fosters a strong sense of community where all are valued and included, and caring citizenship is encouraged’.
This thriving school is situated in over 60 acres of beautiful woodland, gardens and playing fields. The facilities both in and out of the classroom are excellent and include- Design, Technology and Computer Centre, 2 Science Laboratories, Outdoor heated swimming pool, 4 floodlit all-weather netball/tennis courts, Gymnasium, Chapel and extensive level playing fields. Most recent developments include a new Library, Dining Hall, Sports Centre, Computer Centre and Performing Arts Centre, with a 300-seat auditorium and Music School.
Children may board from the age of 7 years. Spacious, colourful bedrooms, brilliant food and caring houseparents are some of the essential elements of the Ranby boarding experience.
Academic standards are high at Ranby. In the past two years a total of 26 Scholarship awards, for academic, musical, artistic, sporting and all-round excellence, were made to pupils transferring to their senior independent schools. However, the focus is on personal achievement at all levels, and the school also caters for children with specific learning difficulties.
A wealth of extra curricular opportunities are on offer and pupils are encouraged to take an active part in all aspects of school life.
The school has its own Scholarship exam in January each year. Links with the armed forces are strong and the school offers Forces Bursaries.
Ranby is a school of the Woodard Corporation. It has a Christian foundation, and is the largest group of independent schools in the country. Ranby House has strong links with Worksop College as part of Woodard Schools (Notts) Ltd – ‘Two Schools, one education’.
The school offers bus services from Worksop, Rotherham, Doncaster, Tickhill, Tuxford, Retford and Mansfield, Newark and Southwell.
