Terrington is a co-educational preparatory school in beautiful countryside fifteen miles from York. There is also a pre-preparatory department for day children from the age of three.
With a teacher/pupil ratio of 1:9 all pupils have the opportunity to achieve their academic potential in a caring and purposeful environment. For the less able a Special Needs teacher can provide individual help and the school understands the needs of the dyslexic child. Terrington has a high academic reputation and in the last four years 20 scholarships and exhibitions have been gained. All major games are played and there is an extensive outdoor education programme. Music, Art and Drama form an important part of the curriculum. A wide range of activities includes riding, clay pigeon and rifle shooting. The Headmaster and his wife live in the school and the children are very much part of an extended family. The school welcomes pupils who live overseas, and an escort service is provided to and from airports. A new purpose built hall was opened during Summer Term 2001, and two new science laboratories in February 2002. A new classroom block for Middle School opened in October 2003.
Above all, though, Terrington Hall is a happy school.
