Bradfield College was founded in 1850 by Thomas Stevens, Rector and Lord of the Manor of Bradfield. During the later Nineteenth Century it developed into a well-known public school and today is one of the leading independent boarding schools in the South of England.
The College, with just over 700 girls and boys, accepts pupils from Britain and overseas and offers places for boarders and day pupils.
Set in its own village, with grounds extending to some 200 acres, Bradfield is easily reached by road via the M4 and by rail through Reading, and is well-placed for access to Heathrow and Gatwick airport.
'Bradfield is a school with many fine qualities, but without doubt the most important is the recognition which your son or daughter receives as a unique and valued individual. You, the parents, are closely involved with us as we meet the distinctive needs of your child together.
The emphasis on pastoral care, and on a sense of partnership between staff and pupils and between school and home, is balanced with our commitment to achieving excellence in academic, cultural and sporting pursuits. The superb facilities greatly help this all round achievement.
The environment at Bradfield is stimulating in its breadth of opportunity and yet personal to its scale, and thus each pupil is encouraged towards the development of an independence of mind and character, and the acquisition of a civilised and enduring set of values.
I am confident that in an atmosphere of high expectation, backed by constant encouragement, we can offer your child the reality of personal achievement and success.
I warmly invite you to visit the College to meet me, the staff and the pupils and to experience for yourself what we all consider to be special about Bradfield. I would also encourage you, as a first step, to visit our website (details on main screen), which offers a virtual tour of Bradfield as well as providing more detailed information.'
