I am delighted to be the Headmaster of Bloxham, which is often described as one of Britain’s best smaller schools. Small we may be, but a visit here will prove to you that we have facilities to match most larger schools and ‘we punch far above our weight’ in areas such as academic value-added, sport, design and information technologies, art and music. Above all, we are a happy School where your sons and daughters will be well cared for. Our School is built around a strong and supportive pastoral and tutorial system which creates an environment where our pupils expect to do well – and they usually do!
The normal points of entry are at 11+, 13+ and 6th Form, although interim entry will be considered.
We are situated in the delightful Oxfordshire conservation village of Bloxham, just 3 miles from the M40 motorway and convenient for several international airports.
As one might expect from a Woodard School, Bloxham offers a supportive, caring and friendly co-educational environment where those with talent in any area are encouraged to contribute and excel. The School is predominantly boarding but with a strong day cohort many of whom convert to boarding as they move up the School. Weekly boarding is available to the Lower School pupils in a magnificent home, Park Close, where there is excellent accommodation for boys and girls.
Bloxham attaches great importance to academic quality and success. A wide range of GCSE and A/AS level courses are offered. 98% of pupils go onto University after Bloxham. A new library opened in April 2006. This exciting and major new building features full ICT capabilities and fosters independent learning skills and to this end all Fourth Formers are given a laptop computer by the School.
The School already enjoys some superb facilities across a wide range of interests. Our entire campus is networked via wireless technology and our Raymond Technology Centre continues to inspire young designers and engineers. Sport too is well catered for two artificial turf hockey fields, two glass-backed squash courts near our sports centre and a climbing wall. An extension to our Music Department opened in 2007 ensuring that all interests are well catered for at Bloxham.
We hold Open Days in the Autumn and Spring but much prefer to welcome you here on a normal working day when you can spend some time viewing our campus and spending time with me discussing individual needs and interests. I look forward to meeting you.
