Dover College is a small dynamic school, where all pupils are given the opportunity to fulfil their potential within a happy and caring environment. Pupils benefit enormously from small classes, the excellent teaching they receive and from the breadth of education on offer.

Founded in 1871, Dover College occupies a beautiful twelfth century Priory site. The College Close with its medieval and modern buildings creates an attractive enclosed haven of tranquillity and learning. Pupils still use the original 12th Century Refectory and Chapel.

Great importance is placed upon literacy, numeracy, information technology and key skills. Music, art and drama are an integral part of the curriculum and all pupils participate in a variety of sports. Class size up to GCSE are generally between 15-20 and at A level 10-15.

Pupils in the sixth form are able to choose AS and A levels from a list of 21 subjects. AVCE Business Studies and Leisure and Tourism are also available. The School works in close liaison with Kent Careers' Services, to deliver a careers' education and guidance programme, enabling pupils to make informed career plans before attending the universities of their choice.

On site are tennis courts, a modern sports hall and a new astro-turf facility. The School's playing fields are a short distance away. Swimming takes place at the local indoor swimming pool. Golf, sailing and riding are offered locally.

All pupils benefit from a carefully designed system of pastoral care. Each pupil belongs to a House and Boarders are provided with good quality accommodation in one of four boarding houses. A Housemaster/mistress, supported by a team of tutors, runs each House. It is their role to give pastoral support as well as supervising their academic progress.

The School's International Study Centre provides intensive English courses for pupils whose first language is not English. These courses vary in length and the aim is to enable all pupils to integrate fully into the life of Dover College as soon as possible after their arrival.

The Individual Needs department looks after those pupils who need a little extra academic support and guidance and does cater for some cases of dyslexia.

Since September 2002: Accredited CReSTeD School.
(Council for the Registration of Schools Teaching Dyslexic Pupils)

Dover College is the closest school to continental Europe, with easy access via the Eurotunnel. Dover Priory Station and good road links are within easy reach of the school making London and the major airports very accessible.
