We strongly believe that a happy, confident child is a successful one and our girls love school! Every girl is different. Whatever your daughter’s personality and talents, we aim to ensure that she is happy, confident and successful in all areas of school life.
High academic standards, excellent SATs results and preparation for grammar and independent senior schools (including our own) are at the heart of what we do, but we never forget that there is more to childhood and learning than examinations.
Kent College Preparatory School is a beautiful, safe and natural environment for learning and growing up. The 75 acre parkland site that we occupy and our superb range of facilities mean we can offer a broad and balanced curriculum with over 30 sports, clubs and extra-curricular activities. This is an important part of our ethos.
Our main intakes are to the Nursery and Reception classes at ages 3 and 4, although girls often join into other year groups subject to places being available. We also take a number of boarders into Years 5 and 6, prior to them joining our Senior School, which is ideal for those who have older sisters and wish to board at the same school. 20% discount is offered to Forces’ families.
The curriculum is broad and balanced with an emphasis on excellent ICT provision. All pupils, even those aged 3, have subject specialist teachers for ICT, dance, drama, music, swimming, with French added at age 6. There is a performing arts culture within the school and all pupils have the opportunity to sing, play an instrument, dance and perform on stage, which develops confidence in all areas of school life. The school prides itself on a busy and diverse extra-curricular activities’ programme, with over 30 clubs at lunchtime and after school.
The School is based in attractive architect-designed accommodation with spacious playgrounds. Pupils benefit from excellent facilities, some of which are shared with the Senior School, such as an indoor-heated swimming pool, 360-seater state-of-the-art theatre, large sports hall, tennis courts, activities hall and dining hall. There are extensive ICT facilities and all classes have a computer with an interactive Smartboard which the pupils use on a daily basis.
Extensive wraparound care is offered for all year groups including nursery. In addition to after school clubs and supervised homework session (Years 3-6), a popular after school care facility is available offering flexible pick-up times, an evening meal and overnight boarding if required. A breakfast club runs from 7.30am.
The School is just 40 minutes by train from London, less than an hour from Gatwick Airport, and an hour from Heathrow Airport. It is in easy reach of the M25, seaports and the Channel Tunnel. Daily transport for day girls is available in the local areas.
