A Word from the Head

The Pre-Preparatory School is an integral part of King's School, Rochester (HMC, IAPS and CSA).

The King's School was founded in AD604 by St. Justus to provide a Christian education for the sons of Saxons. Now in the 21st Century, nestling as it does in the shadow of the Cathedral, it is able to give an all round education for girls and boys from the age of 3-18.

The Pre-Preparatory School was opened in September 1988 and now has nine classes of boys and girls under the guidance of qualified teachers, with twelve classroom assistants, three part-time support staff, and with its own Headmistress.

The School is housed in a £2.0 million building on the Paddock, opened in September 2000, where the bright classrooms are well equipped to meet the needs of the all important early years of education. A computer suite and library form part of the facilities together with rooms for 1:1 teaching. The children learn in a well disciplined but friendly atmosphere. To emphasise the importance to the school of the Christian faith the day begins with a religious assembly.

The School is a day school which operates from Monday to Friday and its terms are the same length as those of the other parts of the School.

The Pre-Preparatory School is fortunate in that it is able to avail itself of all facilities provided by the King's School where music, art, DT, drama and sport flourish. All children receive daily oral German lesson under the School's European Initiative.

Admission to the Pre-Preparatory School, which is at present almost full and has a waiting list for some years, is by interview and assessment in the Spring preceeding the year of entry.

Age range: 3 - 7+

Day pupils: 58 boys and 51 girls

Annual day fees: £6,520 - £8,640

This school does not offer flexi-boarding.
