If you are looking for a school with high standards and a supportive atmosphere, where pupils exceed expectations and emerge as confident young people, then you should consider visiting Beechwood.
The moment you step through the front door, you will sense the welcoming atmosphere that makes our school unique. Our pupils are treated as individuals; we work with them to bring out their best, both in the classroom and in the wide range of other activities that make up school life.
We do not have a long list of rules here but, as in any family, we expect everyone to behave well, showing respect and consideration for each other. We believe strongly in co-operation rather than competition so, as pupils go through school life with us, they are encouraged to help their fellow pupils to succeed with them.
GENERAL
Beechwood was founded in 1915 by nuns from the Society of the Sacred Heart, becoming a lay school in 1973. Today, it welcomes pupils of all nations and creeds whilst retaining a sound Catholic tradition. Situated in 23 acres of landscaped grounds, the school is within walking distance of the centre of the historic town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, just one hour by train from central London and within easy reach of main airports and channel ports.
Beechwood is non-selective academically, yet it achieves remarkable success in public examinations at GCSE and A-level. Government league tables placed Beechwood as the top girls’ school in Kent for added value at GCSE for two years running. Beechwood is also regularly placed in the top 10% schools in the country for A level university points, almost all leavers proceeding to courses in higher education.
A plan for co-education begins in September 2008, with boys joining Year 7 for the first time. Please see our school website for details of this exciting development.
