Rose Hill is one of the oldest Preparatory Schools in the country and recently celebrated its 175th Anniversary. It is situated in eighteen acres of beautiful grounds within five minutes of the centre of Tunbridge Wells.
Facilities at the school are excellent and include a Sports Hall, outdoor swimming pool and 6 hole golf course. A new classroom block, including Library and changing rooms, was completed in 2003 and a new Arts Centre, comprising full-size theatre, music suite and Art and Design rooms will be in use from September. An Astro-turf is planned for next year.
In its recent Inspection Report (November 2007) pastoral care at Rose Hill was judged to be ‘outstanding’ and the school was described as ‘happy, successful and thriving’. Children are prepared for entry to Independent and Grammar schools at 11 and 13, and Rose Hill has an excellent record of academic success including scholarships to major public schools. Small classes ensure individual attention and the school aims to provide a quality allround education for all its pupils. Its size is deliberately restricted to 300 boys and girls in order to achieve that aim.
Sport and the Creative Arts are highly valued and regular scholarships reflect high standards in these important areas of school life. Hockey, Netball, Football, Rugby, Cricket, Rounders and Athletics are the main team sports. A full range of extra-curricular clubs and activities, including Brownies, Cubs, orchestra, choirs and scholars art, together with a varied programme of trips and outings enrich the curriculum.
Within a secure environment, based on clear Christian principles children are encouraged to meet new challenges with confidence.
