Burgess Hill School, founded in 1906, is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged between 2½ – 18 years (boarding from 11 years). Burgess Hill School for Girls has established a reputation for excellence in music, sport, art and drama. It stands in 14 acres of beautiful grounds close to the centre of the town and is a 5-minute walk from the railway, which is on the Brighton to London line. Coach and minibuses also collect girls from outlying areas including Lewes, Newick, Henfield, Turners Hill, Worthing, Crawley, East Grinstead and Hove.

The ethos of the school is to provide a caring environment for the development of the whole child. To achieve this aim, we have small classes with fully qualified, professional staff dedicated to catering for the needs of the individual child. The main aim of the School is to provide each girl with the opportunity to realise her potential in every way.

There are 3 beautiful boarding houses adjoining the school grounds. The rooms and common rooms are spacious, light and pleasantly furnished and the atmosphere is informal and friendly. We also offer ‘casual’ boarding for girls aged 7 to 18 years.

The curriculum is broad and challenging and relevant to the needs of young people. There is a wide choice of subjects both at GCSE and A level with many extra curricular activities.

Burgess Hill School fees are competitive. Entrance to either the Junior or Senior School is by examination and reference. Those students applying for a place in the Senior School are also invited to visit the School for an informal interview. Scholarships are also awarded each year for academic and/or musical excellence into Years 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and the Lower Sixth. Creative scholarships are also available for students entering Year 9 and the Lower Sixth.

Burgess Hill School girls have achieved excellent examination results for 2006 A-level examinations – the girls have been successful achieving a 100% pass rates A-E with 81.1% A and B grades. GCSE examinations – once again, a successful year with 99.8% pass rates A*-C with a massive 80% of all grades at A or A*.
