The school stands in 30 acres of wonderful countryside on the South Downs between Arundel and Chichester.
The Pre-Prep Department contains 82 children aged 2½ – 7 and is housed in a lovely walled garden area with plenty of space for play activities. The curriculum is delivered by well qualified, enthusiastic form teachers with extra input from Main School specialists in PE, Music and ICT.
In the Main School, children are prepared for the Common Entrance and Scholarship examination to independent senior schools, but the emphasis is on ensuring that all children achieve to their potential both in and out of the classroom. The average number of children in a teaching group in the Main School is 14.
Facilities include: theatre, interactive science laboratory, three main libraries, food technology room and pottery studio. There is an extensive range of clubs and activities organised both in and outside the school grounds.
There are also regular visits to a chateau in France for intensive language studies and Geography fieldwork.
Children who show real potential in Art, Drama or Music are able to take advantage of excellence classes during the day.
Appreciation of Music is encouraged and a wide range of instruments is taught. There are three choirs and various ensemble groups, many of the children participate in local festivals and sit a range of musical exams.
Drama is a timetabled subject and every child appears in a form play at some time during the year, some are on stage rather more frequently. LAMDA classes are also on offer.
Art is another strength of the school, many children build up portfolios of real quality to take to their next school and scholarships are won regularly.
The heated swimming pool has been enclosed and is now in use the whole year.
There are plans for a new Sports Hall, allowing the present gym to be refurbished as an Arts Hall.
Many children take advantage of the flexible boarding arrangements and spend some nights with their friends at school, but at no stage is this compulsory.
