Ask the children here what they like best about Windlesham and their reply will be the very wide range of activities available. Ask the children's parents what makes Windlesham such a very special school and they will say its strong family feeling and the knowledge that the children's happiness and care come at the top of our list of priorities.
Windlesham is a co-educational day and boarding prep school with a history of being in the forefront of educational development. Our curriculum is very broad and this enables our talented and creative staff to place great emphasis on the individual development of each child. We aim to give our children an opportunity to discover where their individual talents lie and then teach them to use those talents to the full. We feel that the confidence gained from doing something really well is easily transferred to others areas of life and learning.
Our academic standards are high and we gain numerous scholarships to senior schools each year. We are also able to give special support to those with specific learning difficulties. We have a teacher pupil ratio of 1:8 and our average class size is 15. We teach subjects required by the C.E. board plus Latin and Greek for those who wish. In addition on the timetable you will find Spanish, Art, Pottery, Design and Technology, Drama, Music, Physical Education and Games. We place strong emphasis on the use of computers and our two computer rooms with a new network are always full whether it is lesson time or free time.
We have excellent facilities: a beautiful theatre/sports hall, an astro turf pitch, 2 halls for games, gymnastics and dance, a chapel, libraries, 3 science laboratories, a music school, art and pottery rooms, a design centre, 8 tennis courts, indoor swimming pool and extensive playing fields and a climbing wall.
Many of our children's parents work abroad. Heathrow is only an hour away; Gatwick even closer. We have much experience in transferring children to and from major airports at half-term and the end of term. Our leave out arrangements are flexible. It is a rare week-end when we have less than 100 children here, enjoying our fun and busy week-end programme.
