ARUNDALE SHINES IN LATEST SCHOOL REPORT
'Parents at Arundale School School are highly satisfied with the education and the outstanding pastoral care their children enjoy and pupils are proud to be there' according to the latest Independent Schools report. The school has a strong family feel, focuses on caring, consideration for others, honesty and courtesy. It offers a nuturing , compact community where staff, pupils and parents work together resulting in excellent academic achievement.
Today, Arundale continues to flourish and has won the acclaim of being the only West Sussex Prep School to achieve a place, for the third consecutive year, in the Sunday Times Top 100 UK Preparatory Schools survey based on Key Stage II SAT's results (English, maths & science). We think the success of the school is directly related to the ethos which is summed up in three words ‘Enthusiasm, Encouragement, Excellence’.
Arundale prides itself in achieving high standards in subjects across the curriculum. The combination of a highly qualified and experienced staff, small teaching groups with average class sizes of 12, and a broad curriculum form the basis of an education at Arundale. All children are assured of individual attention.
French is taught to pupils aged 5 upwards, and our specialist music teacher takes all pupils from Nursery to Form VI. Unique to Arundale is ‘Cellobabies’ which encourages children as young as 3 years of age to play the cello, which are one tenth of a full size instrument. By the age of 5 many are competently reading music. Arundale also has Junior and Senior orchestras in which all pupils participate and are regularly invited to play at public events. LAMDA is taught and drama is enthusiastically enjoyed by all pupils. A musical production is staged each year, to which parents and families are invited to watch their children, involving all pupils from Reception to Year VI.
Physical Education, encompassing various sports and dancing activities, is taught to pupils aged 4 upwards. Team spirit is abundant and every pupil enjoys participating in sport events either for their House, or for the school. For the older children there are regular matches against other local prep schools, and the opportunity to compete in some bigger competitions.
A friendly, caring environment provides the means for children to respect themselves and others. Children thrive with gentle encouragement, enthusiasm and stimulation. As one current pupil said, ‘Arundale’s friendly, it has a nice atmosphere and you know everybody.’
There is a wide range of extra curricular activities and clubs for all ages such as Art, Modelling, Netball, Dance, Music & Movement, Ballet, Junior Strings Orchestra, Football, Cooking, Table Tennis, Gym, etc. We provide pre and after school care for busy working families, and there is an excellent programme of visits to places of interest and an annual trip to France or residential visit in the UK for our Year VI pupils.
Never losing sight of the School’s purpose – to provide a sound education for all pupils – Arundale takes care to constantly re-invest in the premises and facilities. A major re-development programme to replace, improve and enlarge the existing Nursery and Reception facilities along with a new Sports/Assembly hall was completed in May 2007. Enlarging the Nursery facilities means that Arundale is now be able to meet demands and offer full-time Nursery sessions. Also included in the project is a new spectator terrace to facilitate comfortable viewing of tennis and netball matches and, possibly the most important item – from the pupils’ point of view – the enlarged playground area!
If you would like to meet the pupils of whom we are so proud or if you are seeking a stimulating, fun and friendly education for your son or daughter, then come and visit Arundale. You’ll be assured of a warm welcome.
