A Word from the Head

Southlands English School in Rome is set in spacious grounds in the South of Rome. It has classes ranging from Pre-School to Year 9. The school adheres to the British National Curriculum and as early as Nursery, children begin their preparation for the British National Curriculum Key Stage examinations (KS1 at the end of Year 2; KS2 at the end of Year 6; KS3 at the end of Year 9).

All our staff are fully-qualified trained teachers; there is a fully qualified nurse in attendance everyday and lessons are held exclusively in English with the help of EFL/Support teachers if necessary. The school offers state-of-the-art computer suite, library, gymnasium and sports facilities. The school has a truly international community and the children are educated and prepared for return to their national systems, for further education and for integration into a multinational society. Where possible, children are interviewed before admission. The school encourages contact between parents and staff so that together they can monitor the child’s progress and welfare. The school has a formal discipline policy and compulsory uniform; children are required to comply with both.

Hot nutritious lunches are prepared on the school premises and the children can choose from a wide variety of dishes. Transport to and from school can be provided from most areas of Rome and Latina upon request. The school calendar runs from the beginning of September to the end of June and observes the main international and Italian festivities. We welcome all visitors and enquiries.
