The School opened its doors for the first time in September 2001 and the enrolment is approaching 250 and is expected to pass this figure in the near future.
The children study a curriculum similar to that followed in a good progressive British school. Children are taught by using the best of both modern and well-tried teaching techniques and great importance is laid on the creation and use of a stimulating environment within the school.
The school is one of the most modern in Lagos, with excellent facilities which include a multi purpose hall, music room, computer suites, three science laboratories, twenty classrooms, superb library, running track, full size football field etc. etc.
Around 50% of the teaching staff are British qualified and experienced.
BIS, VI is committed to providing extra curricular activities for pupils, which include all the usual sports, musical and drama activities. BIS is the only School in Nigeria licensed to be an Independent Operator for the Duke of Edinburgh International Award.
Large-scale musical and drama productions are mounted annually. Sporting fixtures and exchanges are encouraged. BIS is already successful in many sports, particularly Rugby and Cricket. The School has an annual skiing visit to Switzerland and a French Exchange has begun this year.
The School fees for the academic year 2007 - 2008 are US$11,000 per annum (Eleven Thousand US Dollars per annum) inclusive of everything, except uniform, approximately 70,000 Naira and textbooks, approximately 55,000 Naira, and meals. Boarding fees, including all meals, are an additional US$9,000 per annum. Fees are likely to increase for the academic year 2008 - 2009. From September 2001 BIS has been a day and boarding school and will remain so.

Entrance procedures for September 2007 (and beyond) are as follows: A school Introductory Profile, and other details, can be obtained from the school office. The Admissions Procedure Form costs 5,000 Naira and entitles the person purchasing the form to nominate their child to sit the Entrance Test for the Academic Year of their choice. Following the test, you and your child will be invited for an interview with a member of the teaching staff, and based on the outcome will then be offered a place on the waiting list.
The Test is normally taken in the March of the year preceding entry to the School (e.g. March 2006 for September 2006 entry).
