Port Regis is magic - an educational experience which is different and modern but which still provides all the qualities of the traditional with the school's core values of Hospitality, Perseverance, Reconciliation, Generosity and Respect being at the heart of everything the school does.
This well-established and highly successful co-ed boarding and day prep school is set in 150 acres of beautiful Dorset parkland just outside the historic town of Shaftesbury. The main building, Motcombe House, is an elegant Tudor-style mansion with oak-panelled reception rooms and a splendid galleried Hall. The facilities include a purpose-built science and technology centre, a specialist teaching block for Arts subjects, a 450-seat theatre, a new dining hall, a nine-hole golf-course, an astroturf hockey pitch and a sports complex which serves as a National Centre for Junior Gymnastics and which includes a 25m glass-fronted indoor swimming pool, squash courts and a health and fitness suite. A dedicated Music School and an environmentally-friendly Aacademic Centre complete this school's amazing facilities.
The school's campus and facilities attract the country's finest teaching staff, who are a hard-working, friendly and happy blend of experienced and youthful staff, and the positive, encouraging approach in the classroom produces outstanding results as well as children who regard the learning process as engaging and exciting. The School is proud of its 100% Common Entrance success record and of the academic, music, art and all-rounder scholarships (87 in the last three years) awarded by senior schools to its pupils.
The range of the extra-curricular opportunities is extraordinary, and the dedicated staff and exceptional facilities ensure that every child discovers and develops the talents and interests that lie within.
Boarding numbers are at record levels (250+ out of the 350 total) and demand continues to be heavily in excess of supply, contrary to the national trend. Weekend exeats are flexible, and parents enjoy easy access to their children. Expeditions and visits are organised, and a full service is offered to parents resident abroad.
Above all, the School is a wonderfully happy one with children who are lively and charming, relaxed and confident as well as courteous and well-behaved. They are looked after with great care and affection, and their well-being is the prime concern of every member of staff.
Please contact the Admissions Secretary to arrange a visit to meet the Headmaster and look around the School. Academic, Music, Gymnastic, Sport and All-Rounder Scholarships are currently available.
