Head PhotoAs a boarding and day school Leweston provides a contemporary education, rooted in the Catholic tradition, welcoming pupils of all denominations and of none.

Leweston offers an academic education in an environment which is both stimulating and inspiring. Expectations are high; pupils are challenged in their studies to achieve the best possible academic success, and Leweston pupils are well-balanced young people who take their place in the world with confidence. They go on to contribute to society in many different ways reflecting the many and varied opportunities placed before them at school.

Our motto, 'Gaudere et Bene Facere' - 'Rejoice and Do Well' dates from the seventeenth century and applies to pupils and staff alike. It suggests not only that if something is worth doing, it is worth doing well, but also that it is worth doing in the right frame of mind, one which is positive, outgoing and cheerful.

The results at the Senior School pay testimony to the effectiveness of single sex education which underpins the serious work ethos in the school. With a long established reputation as a girls' boarding school with strong pastoral care, the close ties with Sherborne School and other schools in the South West provide ample opportunity for the girls to socialise with their peer groups.
