St Christopher's, which was founded in 1883, is a girls' preparatory day school drawing its pupils from a wide London catchment area. The School is situated in a quiet, residential area of Belsize Park. The main building is a handsome red-brick Victorian house, and within the grounds are a science laboratory, computer room, library and five purpose built classrooms. In recent years the gymnasium has been rebuilt on a larger scale, and four more rooms built to provide additional art and music facilities.
The School offers a well-balanced, stimulating curriculum, and high academic standards are expected and fostered. Spanish is taught from Reception, French from Year 3, and Mandarin offered as an optional extra.
Interests in music, art, drama and games are encouraged, within a lively, friendly environment. As well as two weekly class music lessons, tuition is offered in a choice of eleven instruments. The School has two orchestras, a wind band and three choirs, as well as many smaller ensembles.
A variety of after-school clubs are on offer.
Girls are prepared for 11+ entry to major London day schools, and to boarding schools.
