Hornsby House School was founded in 1988 by the late Prof Béve Hornsby.
The school is accommodated in bright, airy classrooms close to both Wandsworth Common and Balham train stations. The three form entry into reception enjoy their own building with large classrooms and a spacious hall where the children can express themselves through role play, art, music and drama, while learning to read, write and understand numeracy.
Hornsby House aims to offer its pupils high academic standards through a wide, creative curriculum. Specialist facilities and teachers are available for Music, Art, Science, ICT, Sport, French and to help children with specific learning difficulties.
Emphasis is placed on developing children’s talents, and music and sport are given a high profile, the children’s enthusiasm for both subjects being immense. Three choirs and tuition in nine different instruments provide children with a wealth of opportunity for music making. The sports teams, who play at nearby Trinity Fields, have many successes to their credit.
In academic work, much of our teaching involves the use of interactive whiteboards and the school prides itself on outstanding ICT facilities. The well stocked library allows children to carry out research using the internet, intranet and the wide variety of non-fiction texts.
After School Clubs abound and can include art, sport, music, ballet, Taekwon-do, cookery, drama, puppet making, chess and yoga. We provide before and after school care until 5.15pm.
Hornsby House is a happy school with well qualified and dedicated staff who value each child, making that child’s individual progress their priority.
Music Scholarships and means tested Bursaries are available.
