Head PhotoAbbey Gate College is the longest running, co-educational, 4-18 school in the Chester area and is a happy and successful school committed to high educational ideals. Pupils' enthusiasm, learning and talents are guided and encouraged by a dedicated staff team.

The College emphasises the importance of building self-esteem and a love of learning in a friendly and caring environment. The diverse programme of activities and visits provides considerable enrichment for boys and girls at all ages; they experience challenge, develop self awareness, grow in confidence and enjoy the pursuit of excellence.
The idyllic village location of the Junior Department at Aldford for children aged 4 - 11, boasts extensive playing fields, purpose-built shaded area and ecology park. The juniors and infants have use of the extensive facilities at the Senior School. The curriculum combines the best aspects of traditional Primary education with an innovative and individual approach that puts children first

The Music Department is renowned for the quality of its choral singing, with strong links to Chester Cathedral. The choir sing annually at St Paul's Cathedral and tour overseas regularly. Instrumental groups including Concert Band, String Quartet and Funk Band are flourishing and ensure that musicianship is nurtured and developed in many different areas.

Drama, sport and the Duke of Edinburgh award are thriving and outdoor adventures in the Lake District and leadership courses help children in the Junior Department, Years 7, 9, 11 and the Sixth Form to enhance their interpersonal skills through team work and challenge in the environment.

We value each and every child and the potential in every pupil is nurtured and encouraged. Abbey Gate College encourages pupils to develop their imagination, determination and aspirations in order to be the best they can be. Education is far greater than simply achieving super examination results; the journey itself is of equal importance, providing a stimulating experience, widening opportunities and providing an education for life.
