Our commitment to you Education should be an exciting, uplifting and liberating experience, a process that unlocks a world of opportunity for each child. Encouraging every child to flourish in all aspects of their development is our starting point. Beyond this, we aim to give your child a life-long appetite for knowledge and understanding, a curiosity about the world and a delight in it.
From this foundation, the College enables girls and boys to develop into fulfilled, happy and personable young women and men equipped with the vital skills, adaptability and, above all, confidence to thrive as adults in a rapidly changing world.
The College Spirit One of the great strengths of Bishop's Stortford College is its warm and friendly atmosphere. Whilst our size makes it possible to know everyone within a very short space of time, our age range allows us to achieve a very family-like environment for both work and recreation and our cultural diversity expands horizons and enriches all those within the College community.
The spirit and character of the Stortford Houses is reflected throughout the College. Our aim is to provide a safe and happy community in which young people can learn to live and work together, with a spirit of co-operation, kindness and enthusiasm. Within this strong sense of community, individuals can flourish.
Joy in breadth and balance Whether as Boarders or Day Pupils, our young people are involved in an environment of whole-hearted participation. The College has a strong record in sport, music and drama with excellent facilities including an indoor swimming pool, well equipped music centre, versatile theatre and 100 acres of playing fields within the spacious campus. Academic results are excellent with 88% A-B grades at A-level and 98% of sixth formers going on to university.
Ideal location Bishop's Stortford College offers an ideal location: a peaceful environment in 130 acres of grounds on the edge of a country town, yet within easy reach of London and all the opportunities the city provides. Stansted Airport is close by, with major European cities less than 2 hours away, and the main M25, M11 and A10 roads serve the town. A flexible approach to boarding arrangements is offered, tailored to fit the needs of individual families.
"A busy, energetic school, going from strength to strength. Difficult to say who it wouldn't suit; highly satisfied parents tell us that the school not only finds something each child is good at but does so with aplomb." GOOD SCHOOLS GUIDE (published in January 2009)
