Twyford is an independent day and boarding School offering a top-rate, all-round education with a Christian ethos to boys and girls aged 3-13.
Situated on a 20-acre site on rolling chalk downland close to the ancient city of Winchester, the elegant Queen Anne house is the core of the school, surrounded by modern buildings providing first-class facilities. These include the Victorian chapel, an attractive music school, a large indoor swimming pool and sports hall, extensive playing fields including an astroturf pitch.
The curriculum is broad, offering the traditional core subjects as well as drama, art, design & technology, PSHE and PE. Small classes are taught by highly qualified staff. Academic excellence is reflected in the pupils' success in Common Entrance and scholarship exams to the top single-sex and co-educational public schools in the country. Over the last three years, pupils have gained the following awards: 13 academic, 13 music, 4 sport, 1 design and 1 art.
All children start as day pupils, then flexi-boarding takes off in Year 4 and by their final year about 80% of children weekly board, providing an excellent preparation for their move to senior school. Boarders from overseas stay with a local family each weekend, benefiting from the experience of a regular relationship with an English family.
During 2012 4 new classrooms will be built, giving more teaching space in Pre-Prep.
A friendly, family-orientated school where every child is encouraged to thrive and reach their full potential.
