Head PhotoWe teach by creating curiosity and setting challenges. Confidence grows as the children grow, and with it their desire to question and discuss. Our distinctive approach to learning helps children excel academically.

We are surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the South Downs, which we take every opportunity to explore. Learning at Dunhurst extends far beyond the classroom. Whether it is a lesson in Outdoor Work or Mathematics, outdoor learning is very much part of our ethos of educating through 'head, hand, heart'. We pride ourselves in the creative nature of our teaching and learning. We also maintain as much freedom as is practically possible from the pressures of testing whilst underpinning our curriculum with rigour and quality: we do not prepare for Senior School Common Entrance testing.

Pupils at Dunhurst adopt the Bedales approach of a deeper, more inquisitive way of learning very early on. They relish the challenge of embracing new topics and enjoy the journey of learning in partnership with teachers and the community.

Relationships are very important at Dunhurst. Our strong sense of community permeates all our activities: teaching, pastoral care, boarding provision and parental engagement. A Dunhurst education combines everything that Bedales has to offer: a termly public Arts programme, outstanding facilities and a culture that celebrates independent thinking, with a supportive, nurturing and creative environment.

Do please look at our more extensive website (www.bedales.org.uk). I look forward to welcoming you and your child on a visit.
