Hurtwood House combines the best of public school with the best of sixth form college. We have pioneered the concept that at 16 students are ready for the challenge and the fresh impetus that can be provided by a community which specialises exclusively in their own age range. It is a stepping stone between school and university and is as dynamic and exciting as university itself. We also believe that sixth form students need the care and attention that can best be provided in a well-structured, closely-knit boarding community. At Hurtwood House this is a community which is small, friendly and personal rather than large and institutional.

We provide a complete education where there is ample provision for sport, art and music, and there are a variety of extra-curricular activities traditionally associated with the great English public schools.
At Hurtwood House there is a broader range of A-Level subjects to choose from, and alongside the main traditional subjects we have what is generally recognised as the best Drama and Media Department in England.

Hurtwood House is co-educational with 290 boarding students. It is a small and personal school, but one of the largest and most powerful sixth forms in the country. Typically, Hurtwood House students have a clear idea of what they want to achieve. They are hardworking and mature and they are ready to take full advantage of all the opportunities that Hurtwood House provides.

Academic results have been outstanding. Hurtwood House has been placed consistently high in the league tables in a position which the Financial Times has described as 'among the cream of the country's best schools'.

With 100% pass rate at A level and more than half of these at Grade A, it is not surprising that our students are successful in gaining entrance to England's major universities.

If you would like to discuss your son or daughter's future, or you have any other questions you would like to ask about Hurtwood House, please do not hesitate to contact the Headmaster, Cosmo Jackson.
