Ashford School is an independent day and boarding school for boys and girls providing education from 3 months to 18 years. Set over two spacious, green campuses in the picturesque county of Kent, we are a five-minute walk from the International Eurostar station in Ashford, enabling a 37 minute journey to London and easy access to Paris, Brussels and other European capitals. Gatwick is a one-hour journey, and Heathrow and Stansted are 90 minutes away via the nearby motorway network.
About the School
In May 2014 a team of ISI Inspectors declared Ashford School Excellent or Outstanding in every area. Ashford School could be suited to you and your child for many reasons: high achievement at A-level leading to the best UK universities; close attention to the needs of the individual; an orderly, challenging and supportive environment; a wide range of co-curricular activities; and energetic, specialist teachers supported by extensive resources and inventive leadership. Specialising in those subjects that leading universities value most highly, our tradition of excellence and achievement goes hand-in-hand with our ability to develop self-reliance, compassion and boldness in your child. Of profound importance to us are the relationships that we nurture with you and your child, the freedom for children to be creative, the enterprise to initiate and the resilience to cope with adversity.
Ashford School has a continuing plan of development across the school. The Prep School moved into a suite of new buildings in 2010 with bright classrooms and learning facilities and is about to embark on development of its sports facilities.
The Senior School now has a brand new Sports Centre with a Sports England size hall which overlooks the Astroturf on the banks of the River Stour. The schools have two large indoor pools and a learner pool and swimming lessons are available from your child's days in Nursery. Other facilities across the school include: all-weather netball, basketball and tennis courts, gyms, a dance hall, specialist art, design technology, ICT and science labs, ActivExpression whiteboards, a well-stocked learning centre, a student café, a dining hall, pupil common rooms, playing fields and playgrounds for cricket, football and rugby, an auditorium and theatre, and a music school with several performance areas.
Around 150 boarders from around the world make their home here. Our boarding houses are located within grounds of over 25 acres and accommodate boys and girls from 10 to 18 years. Students benefit from shared rooms for two or three children, or individual study-bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms for older pupils. With no lessons on Saturdays, there is plenty of time to make use of School facilities and weekly boarders can participate fully. Full boarders benefit from a weekend activity programme, which includes visits to London and Canterbury and they learn to live and work together, developing deep and lasting friendships along the way.
Our focus is to ensure that every child enjoys an unending craving for learning and discovers themselves by having the opportunity to explore, to know, to do, to share and to be.
