Dolphin School excels at Maths
The results are in from the National Primary Schools Maths Challenge last December, when 70 Dolphin School pupils took part in a range of mathematical challenges and problems. Although this is aimed at Year 6 children (10-11 years), many Dolphin School pupils from different age-groups entered, some as young as Year 3 (aged 7). And the results were astounding:
9 received Gold awards,
14 received Silver awards and
18 received Bronze awards.
Headmistress, Veronica Gibbs, said, We were of course delighted with this achievement from all the children. Maths is a very important part of our curriculum and it is lovely to see the childrens ability recognised in this way.
Furthermore 3 children from Year 6 did so well that they qualified for the Bonus Round in February, scoring at least 23 out of 25 on their challenge paper. Interestingly, this result was only achieved by fewer than 5% of entrants across the country.Published: February 5 2013
