Germaine Greer visits St Swithun's
Germaine Greer, acclaimed academic and avid feminist, visited St Swithuns before Easter to deliver a talk entitled The Disappearing Woman. The author of the international bestseller The Female Eunuch addressed issues facing women in todays society.
Some of the many controversial topics that Ms Greer commented on included the promotion of sexual education for underage girls, how the recent budget favoured two parent families over single mothers, and reforming the UK prison sentence for rape. The individual points of view she offered were truly thought-provoking for all members of the audience, encouraging a completely different outlook on particular aspects of society.Published: April 23 2014
