GCSE Exam Success at Colchester High School

Staff and pupils at Colchester High School are celebrating after another year of excellent GCSE results with 86% of the pupils gaining 5 or more A* to C grades with 76% of them including Maths and English.

The Principal David Young said, 'I am so proud of our pupils who have achieved an outstanding set of results which reflect the effort and determination of our pupils and the hard work of our teachers. The results highlight our focus on providing a friendly supportive and academic environment in which each child is inspired to achieve.'

Among the successes were James Nightingale, who achieved 6 A* and 4 A grades, Jack Stock with 5A* and 5 A grades and Rebecca Harvey with 4A* and 4 A grades.

Mr Young added, 'It really is a unique school, and all of the staff work incredibly hard to try to make sure that we maintain a friendly environment, with high academic standards and many opportunities for extra-curricular involvement. A number of our Year 11 pupils will be staying with us to continue their education in our new Sixth Form and we look forward to building upon their academic success at A Level.'

The school's next Open Day is Saturday 11th October from 10 am to 1 pm and the Sixth Form Information Evening is Tuesday November 4th at 6.30 pm.
