New Term, New Headmaster at OSH

Published on isbi School News dated Thursday 18th of September 2014

Pupils returning from their holidays and those joining Old Swinford Hospital for the first time were welcomed at the start of the Michaelmas term by new Headmaster, Mr Paul Kilbride.

Mr Kilbride, aged 40, is only the 19th Headmaster to lead the School during its illustrious 347 year history and has taught in both the maintained and independent sectors.

When addressing the pupils at their first assembly, the new Headmaster reminded them not only of the breadth and depth of opportunity around them, but also the need to start working with real commitment towards their academic studies.

Already this term, pupils have benefitted from debating workshops, residential outward bound activity camps, drama rehearsals for national competitions and a full programme of competitive sport. Meanwhile, academic tutorials focussing on organisation and study skills have helped the pupils hit the ground running.

OSH Sixth Form students are now applying to university whilst carrying out the fullest range of duties on site, including prefecting and mentoring younger children.
