Here at The Manor we are delighted by the Judo achievements of Year 5 pupil Zara Baker who recently won gold at the National Closed Competition, in her category of Under-10s in the under-30kg weight class.
At the age of 8, Zara was selected to train with the Oxfordshire Judo Club following winning gold in the Oxfordshire competitions. From there she was put forward to compete at both the Open and Closed British Judo Council National competitions (encompassing Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England).
As a result of winning at the National Championships, Zara has been asked to train with Team BJC, the National Squad for the British Judo Council. Zara will meet and train with BJC in Tamworth six times a year where they will select their best players to compete internationally.
Huge congratulations to Zara for all her hard work and commitment. We look forward to seeing her in the Olympics someday soon!Published: April 16 2015
